A fire can be muffled with the use of different materials, such as sand, dirt, water vapor, special gases, among others. Sand is a fire extinguishing method that consists of reducing or preventing the contact of oxygen with the combustible material. If there is no oxidizer to react with the fuel, there will be no fire. The decrease in oxygen in contact with the fuel makes the combustion slower until it is extinguished.
